Phil Ruthven founded the Ruthven Institute in 2017 to help business managers and students to better understand the keys to success and provide the vital information needed to achieve forward planning, effective business strategy and consistent world’s best practice profitability.
Phil Ruthven is the founder and owner of IBISWorld, an international corporation providing online business information, forecasting and strategic services. He is also a director of other companies, advisory boards and charitable organisations.
Dr Ruth Dunkin
Executive Director, Ruthven Institute
With a long experience in public policy, not-for-profit and private sector strategy and implementation, Ruth has been Executive Director of Ruthven Institute since its beginning and is also currently an Adjunct Professor in Health Policy at the Mitchell Institute, Victoria University.
Ruth is a past Vice Chancellor of RMIT University and Director of Policy at the Business Council of Australia.
Director and Business Manager, Ruthven Institute
Peter is a former corporate lawyer with many years’ experience as a financial advisor for major public and private companies. He specialises in merger and acquisition strategies and implementation, as well as fund raising in equity capital markets and arranging numerous initial public offerings for emerging companies.
Peter was a founder and executive director of a well-known private equity firm and, prior to that, a partner in one of Australia’s leading stockbrokers where he focused on equity capital markets and advisory work in mergers and acquisitions.
Currently, Peter works with larger private companies focusing on overseas markets; particularly with major companies in Japan seeking investment opportunities in Australia.
He has a Bachelor of Law from the University of Melbourne and completed postgraduate studies at the Harvard Business School.
Geoff Wild AM
Director, Ruthven Institute
Geoff has obtained a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience across the corporate sector. He worked for the Clemenger Group for almost 30 years in Australia and founded the Agency’s Sydney operation.
Geoff is a Director of WPP Holdings (Australia) Pty Ltd and its related entities. He is also Chairman of Arab Bank Australia Limited.
Geoff is formerly a director of TAB Limited, OPSM Group and PGA (Professional Golf Association) of Australia. He was a Vice President and Director of the successful Sydney Olympic Bid Company Limited and Chairman of the NSW Tourism Commission. Geoff is also a former member of the BBDO Worldwide Board and Chairman of BBDO Asia Pacific.
Geoff was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2000 Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Dr Roger Sexton AM
Director, Ruthven Institute
Dr Sexton is a leading investment banker and company director with extensive professional experience in the Asia Pacific region. He has served as a Chief Executive of a number of large organisations in the finance, funds management and investment banking industries and has served on the boards of a number of public companies and organisations in Australia and overseas.
Roger is currently Chairman of ASX-listed company Beston Global Food Company Ltd, and Chairman of KeyInvest Limited (based in Adelaide). He is also Chairman of the Beston Pacific Group of Companies.
He is a Fellow and SA/NT President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. He has also served as a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board.
Roger was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2011 Queens Birthday Honours.
Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Ruthven Institute
Nathan joined Ruthven Institute in February 2020 and is responsible for driving sales growth and customer experience.
Prior to Ruthven Institute, Nathan has spent 16-years in global sales, marketing and digital transformation roles across a broad range of industries and markets including Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. Between 2005 and 2009, he resided in Finland working with a mobile solutions company taking the brand and technology globally in to 16 countries.
In his most recent leadership role with Cyient, a global engineering and technology solutions company, Nathan together with his global team successfully commercialized technical communications solutions and products growing the annual business revenue to $125Mn USD.
Nathan has completed a Global Leadership Program, a joint academic collaboration between Swinburne University in Melbourne, and Northeastern University in Boston. He holds a Master’s degree in International Business, and a Master’s in Leadership.
Dr Elaine Miles
Vice President of Operations, Ruthven Institute
Elaine proactively manages and is involved in planning, recruitment, policy, direction, and office management for the Ruthven Institute. In addition to overseeing the Institute’s production and administrative functions, Elaine has also been involved in the creation of the RI-Hub strategic partnership with the University of Melbourne and negotiations to secure relationships with media and clients.
Elaine’s background includes working for large corporates, SMEs, not-for-profits and universities.
